Unmasking the Debate Over Getting Vaccinated

Since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, there has been a debate about wearing face masks, so it probably shouldn’t be a surprise now that the announcement about masks by the Centers for Disease Control also has given fuel to the debate over getting vaccinated.

President Biden, in commenting on the new CDC guidelines, said Thursday that it was a great day for America and that it showed the success of the vaccines.

The director of the CDC saying this is the day we’ve been waiting for, the beginning of the return to normalcy with fully vaccinated Americans no longer having to wear masks anywhere outdoors, even if there are crowds, and almost anywhere indoors as well except for health care locations, buses, trains and planes.

But not all businesses are immediately rushing to take down all the “must wear a mask signs.”

Because the new CDC guideline is only for fully vaccinated people, and while a growing number and percentage of people have received both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the single dose J&J vaccine, there are still at least a half or more who have not depending on what county or state in which you live.

And because they don’t know which customers have been fully vaccinated and which have not. And while some businesses are requiring vaccinations, a lot of places are just encouraging them, not mandating them.

So getting more people to get fully vaccinated is going to be the key to really getting back to normal and making all future days…all great days.
