Remembering Something About Your Memory

Ever play that game when you try to remember your earliest memory?

What happened when you were in kindergarten or even before that? As we age memory becomes more of a concern. We all can remember, even when we’re not that old, times when we have trouble remembering the name of someone or have a hard time answering certain trivia questions, we think we know.

A new study is out about our memory that found that most people on average can actually recall memories dating all the way back to the age of just two-and-a-half years old. The findings are described as noteworthy because most experts have believed for a long time in the estimation that humans’ earliest memories begin around the age of three-and-a-half.

The researchers say this new study doesn’t necessarily mean that you should immediately remember the color of your crib or what kind of cake was served at your third birthday party. The authors of the study say that very early memories when you were a toddler aren’t as stable as later memories.

They say that memory is a fickle thing with details and backgrounds often become blurred or are misremembered. And the correct order of events also frequently becomes jumbled up.

But the study should help us remember just how amazing our brains were created to be. Even if we forget about it from time to time.
