Let’s face it, still wearing face masks by this time here in 2021, was not something most of us probably thought we would still be doing.
Early this year, vaccines had been approved and had started to rapidly go into arms. We even had to wait in long lines to get our shots because of all the demand. And most of us figured that the end of this virus and the COVID restrictions would be near by now. But of course, with the Delta variant coming along and the vaccination rates slowing dramatically, that has not happened.
And now we’re faced with more face mask mandates and vaccination mandates for many in government, the military, schools and among a growing number of companies.
Some state lawmakers, some of whom are doctors, are working on a statewide plan that would require Californians to show proof of vaccination to enter indoor businesses and forcing workers to get vaccinated or regularly tested.
San Diego Unified has announced that kids and teachers not only will have to wear masks indoors when they start school next week but also in many places outdoors.
The City of San Diego just told all 11,000 of its employees that they must be fully vaccinated by the start of November.
And leaders in the health care profession in San Diego want a county-wide mask mandate.
Unfortunately, the pandemic of 2020 is still alive here in the last half of 2021.We had hoped it wouldn’t be so. But it is. We still are all in this together and together we are going to have to get out of it.
