We’re talking a lot about kids today and tomorrow here on the radio and there has probably never been a more important time to talk about kids.
Because kids have been going through a lot these last couple of years. A word that most kids had never heard before, “pandemic”, has been THE word in their lives. A virus that spread across their world in ways that, even with a kid’s imagination, they may have found hard to believe.
Kids have faced something that most of us adults never had to live with when we were kids.
Disruptions on their lives no one saw coming. Not being able to go to school but suddenly having to learn to do distance learning. Not being able to be with their friends during a time in their lives that being with friends and learning how to get along with friends and treat their friends is so important. And still now having to wear masks.
A lot of kids’ parents lost their jobs, and they want to know why they can’t have the clothes or food or toys at Christmas they usually do.
And kids not being able to be with grandparents, and aunts and uncles, and others they love and who love them.
And then the number of kids of all ages who are being treated for anxiety and depression.
It hasn’t been easy being a kid in 2020 and 2021. And that’s why all the stories you are hearing about on the radio are so important. Because kids are important and a blessing to their families. And that’s why Rady Children’s Hospital needs the support of all of us in San Diego.
So, as we approach Christmas let’s think about the kids. And let’s all of us try to make this season of giving a very special one.
HOW TO GIVE TO RADY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL.
