Study Says Politics Can Be Bad for Your Health

A new study says politics is bad for your health. Talking about politics. Arguing about politics.

The study says that almost have of the people surveyed said politics stresses them out with many of them saying politics makes them lose sleep and ruins relationships. The researcher at the University of Nebraska who did the study says an estimated 50-85 million Americans blame politics for causing fatigue, feelings of anger, loss of temper and compulsive behaviors.

And he says it is hasn’t changed from a similar study four years ago. And he makes it sound as if may even be worse.

Professor Kevin Smith suggests that with social media, podcasts and the 24-hour non-stop cable channel news about politics, the more people consumer, the more many of them are negatively affected by it all. Other experts have suggested that not spending so much time on social media where there is a lot of political arguing going on is a good way to reduce your stress and its impact on your health.

And you do see people on Twitter and Facebook posting messages about saying goodbye to their feeds.

And that might be the vaccine we need with the divisiveness in politics infecting us with a virus of a different kind these days.
