How to Make America's Government More Competent

Competence in government has always been an issue. Even the nation’s founders worried about it and whether their new form of government for the new America would work.

It was even called an experiment by some of the founders. The experiment has been going on for more than 240 years now despite some incompetent leaders.  And some argue there are signs that our government has become more incompetent.

Many Republicans say the current president is incompetent and many Democrats said the last president was incompetent.  And go back a few more to presidents during the last several decades and even longer, and every one of them has been accused by their critics of failures in their competence to do the job.

When it comes to competence in government, it is in the eye of the beholder and when beholders, i.e., the people, are as deeply divided as they are now, it’s all become extremely partisan and that can lead to each side saying the other side is evil.

We will never all be united, and the founders knew that.  But they also knew that in order for our form of government to work, its leaders needed to be more concerned about the competence to make it work and not make it all the time about politics and all about fighting instead of working together to solve problems.
