Get ready for some real-life cold temperatures tonight.
We’re not familiar at all with temperatures getting down into the 20s and low 30s in San Diego, and we’re not used to freeze watches and warnings.
But with the NWS forecasting temperatures down to as 26 in Oceanside, and at or not far from the freezing mark in much of the area from near the coast to throughout the inland valleys, and in the mountains maybe even getting into the upper teens, this is going to be like real winter cold. And we don’t see or feel that at all.
As a National Weather Service statement puts things about tonight and tomorrow morning, “The frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.”
Now that’s cold. If you’re from back East or from the Midwest, temperatures like this during February are pretty common. And maybe you’ll be able to handle it better than those who have lived here in San Diego their whole lives.
Whatever the case, the good news is that for us, unlike what happens in those cold winter areas of the country, these very cold temps will disappear into the sunset as quickly as they came and return us to the normal we’re used to and love about San Diego.
