There are a lot of graduations going on and that means a lot of parents going through a time of thinking more about their kids and their future and thinking maybe even more than usual about what it means to be a parent.
Parenting has never been easy, but it may be harder than it’s been for a long time..with parents having to find ways to help their kids, and themselves, by finding ways to deal with the lingering impact of a pandemic, worries about school shootings and war, and concerns about higher costs for college, homes, food along with all the usual things parents worry about when it comes to their kids.
As the founder of the Parent Coaching Institute told Axios, “There’s almost not a word to express the stress parents are under right now.”
But all parents, and all of us, need to remember that better things do come out of harder times.
For instance, according to a Census data, parents reported becoming closer during the COVID lockdowns, with parents of young kids saying the read to their kids more and parents of older kids saying they eat more meals together.
Every parent learns what their parents learned about how important a job they have…to care and nurture their kids to become successful adults.
And as parents watch their kids mature and grow, they are reminded of what Crosby Stills Nash & Young sang about and what the author of Proverbs wrote about, ‘Teach your children well.’
