What Parents Need to Know About the Most Dangerous Drug

If you’re a parent, there is a lot to worry about when it comes to our kids these days.

Most recently the shootings and the gun violence has been on many parents’ minds. There also has been COVID-19 and the impact of the pandemic on kids’ physical and mental health.

But there is something else that many parents also have worried about for many years, going back to the psychedelic 1960s and 70s. It’s the use of drugs.

And tonight, there’s an on line event that is a reminder that the drug problem that’s been around for all this time remains a big problem. District Attorney Summer  Stephan and County Supervisor Jim Desmond are hosting a virtual town hall this evening on the dangers of fentanyl that will include a message and advice for parents.

The Zoom event is entitled “What Every Parent Should Know About Fentanyl”…a drug that may be one of the most deadly.

There has been a sharp increase in unintentional drug overdose deaths in San Diego County in recent years with other drugs often laced with fentanyl. And families of all kinds and all incomes have been affected.  Among the speakers during tonight’s town hall are the parents of a Cathedral Catholic student who died last year from a fentanyl overdose.

It starts at 6 tonight and parents who want to attend the on line town hall on Zoom can register by going to https://www.supervisorjimdesmond.com/fentanylsd
