Right and wrong. The debate over right and wrong has never been hotter than it is now.
It would be nice if everyone could agree on what’s right and what’s wrong, but that’s not going to happen.
Even when we agree on those things that we can agree on, such as all of us wanting less crime, we can’t agree on how best to do it.
But when we are faced with news about an eight year old boy whose father leaves his gun for the son to find and then kills a one year old and wounds a two year old, or the nearly 50 people found dead inside a semi in a smuggling operation, or controversial Supreme Court decisions, the call inside our hearts to want to find ways to make things better becomes louder and sharper.
But so also does the debate over what to do about issues like these.
If it is indeed impossible that we will ever agree on what to do about them and how to come at least closer to solving them and finding ways to agree to disagree and still respect each other, then we are left with the continued fierce and nasty political battles over what’s right and what’s wrong.
There are truths that exist. But we may never find them if all we do is fight with each other.
