Going through the COVID pandemic as we all have, we’ve all learned more about our health.
And it also has caused a of lot us to look at the more important things in life. That’s why a new study that offers more advice about how to stay healthier and help you get through illnesses is worth knowing about.
The study by a respected school of health and a university women’s hospital says better health outcomes are associated with spirituality.
They defined spirituality as “the way individuals seek ultimate meaning, purpose, connection, value, or transcendence.” While it often involves organized religion, it can also refer to many other ways of “finding ultimate meaning.” The researchers found that what they called “spiritual community participation,” such as attending religious services or being involved in other spiritual activities, likely prayer, is linked to a healthier life, a longer life, and better mental health.
And because of that these researchers recommend that doctors and medical professions should make spirituality part of health care. As the study put it, “Focusing on spirituality in health care means caring for the whole person, not just their disease.”
A lot of health care workers over the last two years can probably tell you a lot of about that.
