Want to be healthier and happier? A new study has an answer that may not surprise you but might give you more reason to do something you’ve wanted to do.
And that’s not spending as much time on Twitter, Facebook and the rest of them. Let's face it, many of us spend too much time on social media.
Numerous studies have found that spending a lot of time on social media can be addictive and can make you more anxious, more depressed and upset with all the arguing and conspiracy theories that fill the pages of social media.
Well, just released research shows that spending 30 minutes less on social media every day and replacing that 30-minutes with physical activity can improve your mental health.
People in the study followed this routine for just two weeks and they said they felt much happier, more satisfied, less stressed and less depressed. And probably most importantly, the improvements in their emotional and mental health lasted for as long as six months after the study had ended.
This study should cause us all to take a moment, a long moment, to consider how much time we spend on social media and what would happen if we reduced that time and spent that time doing some physical activity. Maybe it’s about time.
