Is it Possible to Fix the Homeless Problem in San Diego?

The news headlines today are filled with stories about homelessness in San Diego.

The vote by county supervisors to declare the homeless problem a public health crisis and the pleadings from San Diego’s basketball legend Bill Walton on offense against the mayor for not doing enough about the problem and the battle between the mayor of El Cajon against state and county officials.

All of it is in the news and all of it is a reason for all of us to be concerned about how and when the homeless problem in our communities will become less of a problem.

All of this is sure to make taxpayers angry, business owners disappointed, homeless advocates frustrated and a lot of us concerned that it appears the homeless problem is too big and too hard for it to ever be solved.

For most voters, they likely want our local and state politicians to stop the bickering and blaming each other and instead to start working together and commit to making things better somehow, some way.

It’s time to fix the homeless problem and not fight over it.
