WATCH: What Beating LA Means for San Diego; Wil Myers Celebrates in Gaslamp

Anyone who was at Petco Park Saturday night to see the Padres beat the Dodgers and win the divisional series will remember it forever.

Even some San Diegans who weren’t there may say years from now that they were there. But it was more than just a memorable night, it was an historic night with the Padres pulling off what most MLB pundits said would not happen, an upset of the most winning team in baseball, the Dodgers.

It seemed the chances of the Padres beating L-A were as small as there being heavy rain in October in San Diego. Yet both of them happened.

The San Diego Union Tribune headline described it as slaying the dragon. Another writer say the Padres finally got a monkey off their backs.

And of course because of what happened at Dodger stadium in Game 2 of the series, it was a goose that became the fans’ mascot this weekend after years of the Padres too often putting up goose eggs on the scoreboard when they played the Dodgers.

The cries of Beat L-A were finally answered. With the defeat of the Dodgers, San Diego sports fans have their pride back…after having to witness the Chargers abandoning them for L-A.

San Diegans have always had to put up with L-A winning all the attention and all the championships when it comes to sports while knowing they live in America’s finest city.

And now we hope that goose lays a golden egg and helps to finally bring a championship to San Diego.
