What the Cities of San Diego and Philadelphia Share

So the National League Championship Series now moves from San Diego to Philadelphia. From America’s Finest City to the City of Brotherly love.

The two cities are certainly different but also share some similarities.

Both are rich in history. San Diego is considered the birthplace of California with the first mission.

Philadelphia is considered a birthplace of America with Independence Hall and the Liberty Bill.

Both have famous food. San Diego’s fish tacos. Philadelphia’s cheesesteaks.

And both have Democrats for mayors.

But the two cities also are different. Sunny and mild in San Diego and not much of a winter. In Philadelphia, hot and humid summers and nasty winters.

Lots of national travel surveys say that San Diego is the number one destination.

People who live in Philadelphia say they like it because they’re close to other destinations like New York and Washington D.C.

As for the baseball teams, the Phillies have a very long history dating back more than a century to the late 1800’s.

The Padres have been around for just over half a century.

Despite the difference in their age, both teams are very good.

And so are their fans. Both very loyal. Philly fans are called fanatics. Padre fans are described as boisterous.  We hope the Padres are the ones who make history in 2022.
