We’re talking a lot about kids today here on the radio and there has probably never been a more important time to talk about kids.
Because of what kids have gone through the last three years. A word that most kids probably had never heard, “pandemic”, is now a word that defines their generation.
Kids faced something that most of us adults never had to live with when we were kids.
Disruptions on their lives no one saw coming. Not being able to go to school but suddenly having to learn to do distance learning. Not being able to be with their friends during a time in their lives that being with friends and learning how to get along with friends and treat their friends is so important.
A lot of kids’ parents lost their jobs and a lot of kids were not able to be with grandparents, and aunts and uncles, and others they love and who love them during the last two holiday seasons.
And so many kids who have had to catch up for learning time lost and the number of kids of all ages who have been in counseling for emotional problems and anxiety and depression related to the long pandemic.
It hasn’t been easy being a kid And that’s why all the stories you are hearing about on the radio today and tomorrow are so important. Because kids are important and a blessing to their families. And that’s why Rady Children’s Hospital needs the support of all of us in San Diego.
So, as we approach Christmas let’s think about the kids. And let’s all of us try to make this season of giving a very special one.
