Hit any potholes lately? If you’re like any other driver in San Diego, you probably have.
Right now on many streets in the city, drivers are doing a lot of last-minute dodging to avoid hitting them. Of course potholes are always around, but after all the rain we’ve had from these recent storms that causes the asphalt to loosen and potholes develop, it has gotten worse,
That’s why the City of San Diego sent out the news release it did Wednesday that dozens of additional work crews are being assigned to make pothole repairs. As the city’s chief operating officer Eric Dargan puts it, “We are taking an all hands-on deck approach to filling potholes…and our teams will be out seven days a week filling potholes until we can get caught up on these repairs.”
How bad is it? The city says that typically, there is a daily average of 200 pothole requests to be filled. After the storms now, the backlog is just above 1,600 reports.
If you see a big pothole or hit a big pothole, you can report it to the city by using the Get It Done app or go online to the city’s storm preparedness website.
But for now, it’s a good idea to keep your eyes open and your brake foot ready, because it’s going to take some time before all those potholes are patched up…at least until the next batch of storms comes our way.
