Most of the western world today is marking the day one year ago when Russia’s evil leader began his invasion of Ukraine.
Here in San Diego, there is a place that during this last year became the epicenter for the local effort to stand with Ukraine. That place is the House of Ukraine, located in Balboa Park among the other international cottages at the House of Pacific Relations, where until one year ago, there was no talk of a war going on, but only thousands of San Diegans and tourists who visited the houses.
Nestled among the other houses representing nations around the world, it has become a place that symbolizes the spirit of cooperation and determination among the United States and its allies in Europe and elsewhere to help the people of Ukraine and to prevent a dictator’s takeover of a free and democratic nation.
And in San Diego, that spirit will be expressed tomorrow in Balboa Park as the House of Ukraine holds what they are calling a “One Year of Resilience” rally and march. They are expecting a lot of people to be there, saying that the people of San Diego have stood strong with Ukraine all through this last year, donating supplies and money for supplies that all go to the people of Ukraine.
It starts at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon in Balboa Park at the El Cid statue at the Plaza de Panama.
