You’ve probably used a “how to” video. A new study confirms that a lot of people do.
And it provides some insight into how people use ‘how to’ videos and for what reasons.
A poll of 2,000 adults shows that a lot of people use ‘how to’ videos not just to find out how to fix things around your house. The survey found that people are using ‘how to’ videos for everything from how to do a job interview, how to date, with one out of ten in the poll saying they used ‘how to’ videos to help them conceive a child.
And about 20 percent of those in this survey said they’ve even used ‘how to’ videos to save someone’s life.
The researchers say ‘how to’ videos are great for generations who prefer the short, digestible formats of social media. As one of them put it, “We all spend a lot of time online these days, and our attention spans are getting shorter.”
And of course because video content can be replayed, and you can stop and start it…and who hasn’t done that…it makes learning how to do something easier to learn.
Now what we can use are some ‘how to’ videos that could show us how to get our political leaders to stop fighting with each other and actually learn how to fix things to make them better for all of us.
