What Goes Down Always Goes Up on Memorial Day Weekend

With the Memorial Day holiday weekend comes something that seems to happen every year at this time.

You probably already have noticed it yourself.  The price of gasoline goes up.

The latest report from the Auto Club says average gas prices in San Diego County have risen today for the 8th time in nine days. The average price for regular gas is now at $4.86 cents a gallon going into the holiday weekend and the un-official start the summer.

That’s the average price so you are seeing prices at $5.00 a gallon or even higher at some gas stations.

The Auto Club attributes the higher prices to the higher demand prompted by the holiday and the increased travel and driving.

The good news is that gas prices at this time last year at the Memorial Day weekend were $1.15 cents higher than they are now.

Living in California of course does usually mean higher gas prices than in most other states.  So it’s not something we’re not used to. We all remember the record high price for gas we hit last October when it was just shy of $6.50 a gallon.

Let’s just hope that will become a very distant memory going into the future.
