What AI Companies Are Promising About Artificial Intelligence

The big meeting at the White House today is another sign of a big problem that artificial intelligence technology has created.

The President is meeting today with the executives from all seven AI developers whose companies have opened a Pandora Box of questions and concerns over what to do about AI.

How to use it wisely. How to control it. How to know it. How it can help us. And how it could hurt us.

Several creators of artificial intelligence recently called for a hold or a pause on its development, so that those questions can be explored and answered. They issued some warnings about the potential danger, including one that got a lot of headlines that AI one day could even lead the extinction of the human race.

Now that sounds like something that’s way out there and could never happen.

But a warnings like that from some of the brains that created AI have certainly raised alarm bells.

The good news is that the AI companies are said to be committed now to clearly labeling AI-generated content which could lead to watermarking of audio, and visual content to prevent fraud and misinformation.

It’s part of human nature to be fearful of things we don’t understand. And no one can say they fully understand artificial intelligence technology and what it may be capable of doing.

But forewarned is forearmed. And that makes today’s meeting of all the big AI companies at the White House a wise thing to do. So we take the steps that may be necessary to make sure we are very smart about to use artificial intelligence now and in the future.
