A New Study Not to Boast About

An unusual new study is out about something that even the authors of the study say is not something that has studies done about it.

The study published in the Review of General Psychology is about arrogance. The study measured how self-absorbed people are and what behaviors are involved.

The University of Missouri researchers created something they say has not been created before…what they call an “arrogance spectrum” that’s used to classify the condition on various levels.

They looked at a range of behaviors such as talking more about oneself than listening to others, to over-estimating one’s performance to being boastful to denigrating others.

If you’re thinking that’s nothing you do, the study’s authors point out that while some people are definitely more arrogant than others, everyone carries a certain degree of arrogance around with them on a day-to-day basis.

The researchers say they hope the study will provide some analytical and psychological data about arrogance…that could be used to help all types of relationships, interpersonal and professional and even help improve communication between political groups.

Maybe our far too many arrogant politicians should read this study. But then they might be too arrogant to think they need to.
