So what are you going to be doing this weekend in San Diego?
That’s what we usually ask each other when Friday arrives, you know, that TGIF kind of thing and we’re all feeling pretty good and planning outdoor activities for our weekend.
But things are a little different when it comes to this weekend. And we might be feeling a little different as well.
Of course that’s because it’s going to be a pretty wet, windy and wild weekend in San Diego. And an historic weekend as well.
It’s not often the National Weather Service in San Diego gets guidance from the National Hurricane Center when putting out the forecast. A tropical storm watch is very possibly going to be part of that forecast for this weekend. And you’ve already been hearing our reports of flood watches across Southern California.
This weekend is all about Hurricane Hilary, which while lessening in intensity as it gets here, is still expected to be a tropical storm.
As the Union Tribune headline shouts it this morning, “Hillary will produce torrential rain, widespread flooding and freakish heat in San Diego County this weekend.”
So be prepared to see and hear lots of severe weather alerts on the radio and TV this weekend and take time today to prepare for the rain, the flooding, the winds and the surf. And be prepared to enjoy your San Diego weekend indoors.
