What to Do About the Inflation Problem

The rate of inflation may be down from what it was, but we’re still feeling it. and in recent days, it may seem as if we’re feeling it more. Or maybe we’re just hearing about it more because of the news we’ve been hearing about it.

The San Diego City Council just approved that 20 percent increase in city water rates, meaning about 12 dollars more a month for the average customer.

The daily reports about gas prices include daily increases with the average price reaching 6-dollars a gallon as of today.

And then there’s the news about the United Auto Workers’ strike possibly leading to less inventory which of course leads to higher prices.

And there was the report about the median price for a home being up again. And the report about rents still higher.

When it comes to food prices, there is good news and bad news.

As one news report this week put it, the cost of food is down but because food producers have other expenses that are higher, like labor, compared to a few years ago, the price of a lot of food items has not dropped as much.

So what do we do about this inflation problem? Most grin and bear it and find ways to save costs somewhere else in our budgets. And we hope our leaders who can do something about it actually do something about it.
