A New Goal for San Diego Sports Fans

The Padres season is over, thankfully, and now all the talk will be about what the team owner and his leadership team will do to make sure next season is not like this past season.

And while all the talk over that goes on, there is now renewed talk about the possibly improved chances of San Diego getting a National Hockey League team.

It’s not going to happen soon, if it ever does, but the thousands of hockey fans who were at San Diego’s Pechanga Sports Arena  last week for an exhibition game between the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings were talking about it and now some of the sportswriters and sports talk radio hosts are talking about it. And even talking about San Diego being a good hockey town.

The announcement by the Midway Rising development team the other day about changing the plan for that sports arena area in the Midway District didn’t hurt the talk about getting a brand new sports arena, to replace the very old one there now.

It has even been suggested in the last few days that the very old sports arena could still attract an NHL team sooner than later.

It’s may be a long shot to think that we could get an NHL team in San Diego any time in the near future, but for a lot of backers with that dream, along with a lot of hockey fans, it’s their goal.
