What to Do to Have More Gratitude

One of the things you are supposed to learn when you’re a kid is to say thank you. Parents often spend a lot of time reminding their kids to say thank you when they get a gift or when someone does something nice for them.

While some scientists recently claimed that expressing gratitude is a result of a survival skill that comes from our nature as social animals, it doesn’t seem to come as naturally as it should.

And that’s why kids have to be taught to say thanks. Many, as adults, learn why multiple studies have shown that being grateful and expressing gratitude to others can help us feel more optimistic about our lives and what’s going on around us and can make us feel better mentally and physically and even help in battling depression.

So as we prepare for Thanksgiving, a tip from the leader of a a major news outlet is worth passing along.

He is the CEO of Axios and he says that to balance out all the negativity out there, he began keeping a list of the people in his life, past and present, who have made a meaningful difference in his life.

He says he tries to read it and add to it each week to help him focus more on being grateful than being dissatisfied.

Something to think about and something we all could do as we celebrate the day for giving thanks.
