There are a lot of negative things said about social media and questions raised about its impact on young and old. And few will disagree with most of the concerns.
But a new study is out about social media that you might find more to your liking. Because a lot of people who spend time on social media appear to like it.
The researchers found something they termed a liking for “social media “nostalgizing.”
They refer to it as many people on social media actively seeking out content that triggers feelings of nostalgia, with participants in the study referring to this behavior as “treating themselves” to a nostalgic journey from time to time.
The study suggests that social media has not only transformed the way we communicate but has also generated a deep feeling of nostalgia and the desire to preserve our memories.
You may be among those who are using social media to do that.
From the Throwback Thursdays to the Facebook groups featuring images of where you grew up to sharing your memory posts that pop up from the past, there is a lot of social media ‘nostalgizing’ going on.
And especially during the holidays. Because this time of year makes for special times and remembering them.
