There is something that probably everyone can agree on. No one likes using a public restroom.
While some are better than most and some are far worse than many, let’s face it, public restrooms are often never clean, and make us worried about germs and bacteria.
But public bathrooms don’t have to be so bad.
Some family members recently returned from a vacation where they spent several days in London. And while they had to get used to the driving and the walking on the left side instead of the right side of streets and stairs, what impressed them were the public restrooms in London. Not only were they clean, there were lots of them.
The city of London is a place where lots of people visit and vacation and it is proof that it is possible for a city to have clean and plentiful public restrooms.
So why has it been so hard for the city of San Diego to get its public restroom act together?
Back in May, a Grand Jury report, and not the first time, slammed the city for a lack of public restrooms. And it’s not just a problem because of the homeless problem. Advocates say there are not enough bathrooms just for citizens and tourists.
And that’s why last month the city of San Diego announced several new efforts to solve a shortage of public restrooms.
Having more restrooms for the public is good news. But then if they’re like the ones you may have used in places like Balboa Park, having clean and healthy-safe bathrooms is at least just as, if not more important. Don’t you think?
