Having some family members who moved to Texas several years ago where they were able to buy a home for the first time, that report this week from U-Haul was not a surprise.
The survey from the U-Haul folks found that Texas once again was the state where most people move to when they move.
And when our family from Texas arrived here for Christmas and we passed the first gas station, the posted price of $4.73 cents s caught their immediate attention. That’s because the average price of gas in Texas is $2.67 cents. About two dollars a gallon cheaper.
And now this week we got the word that gas prices in California are starting to rise again after the price of gas dropped pretty steadily during the last three months.
According to a report in the San Diego Union Tribune, refineries in California in a few weeks will start transitioning to the summer-blend gasoline that’s about 20 to 25 cents per gallon more expensive than winter blends and the refineries briefly shut down before processing it.
So get ready for higher gas prices as we head into spring. Of course all of us who live in California always do. But if you’ve been thinking about taking a road trip, you might want to do it before the spring.
