The reports say inflation is lowering and the reports say wages are increasing, and while true, overall, not a lot of people are feeling it yet.
And one of the best examples of that is the report this weekend from the San Diego Union Tribune about the price of food and higher operating costs, the local non-profit organizations that provide food for people who need it are hurting.
The San Diego Food Bank says it’s seeing its greatest demand for help since the height of the pandemic, and donors are not donating as much,
And the San Diego Hunger Coalition says their individual donations in 2023 were down nearly 25-percent.
Holiday food drives help, but these organizations say the need is always there and the winter months mean more viruses which means more families are spending more money on cold medicines.
And while they do get food items from people and still get volunteers, financial donations are key to being able to do what these organizations do.
The need for giving is year round but especially here at the start of a new year.
