Are you getting enough sleep at night?
A new report from Axios suggests says most Americans are not getting enough sleep
A recent study that tracked the sleep of Apple Watch users found that, on average, Americans get less than six and a half hours of sleep each day.
But experts in this report say getting seven hours or more of sleep every might is not only important, they say it’s crucial for your health with medical research having linked not enough sleep to anxiety, depression and dementia.
Says one of the medical experts in this report, “Even if you work out and eat well, a lack of enough sleep you’re not going to get the gains you want”.
This study also found, maybe not all that surprising, that if you live on the western edges of your particular time zone where it stays lighter a little longer, you tend to sleep less.
Of course there are a lot of reasons we don’t get enough sleep, among them the stress and problems of the day, all the worrying do about things, and the now modern and pervasive distractions of having a smart phone by your bedside.
This study suggests that…just like preparing for a workout or preparing a healthy meal, doing the things before you go to bed that help you sleep better and longer, is a smart thing, before you turn out the lights.
