The Rule Too Many People Do Not Follow

You may not have read them but we probably can all relate to two recent commentaries in the San Diego Union Tribune

One was former City Council member Donna Frye complaining about the behavior of some grocery store shoppers one in particular who ran into her leg with his shopping cart and never said he was sorry or asked if she were okay.

She also wrote about how people drive and the drivers who don’t know their car is equipped with a turn signal or the ones who run red lights or blow through stop signs or cut people off and speed through neighborhood streets.

Another Union Tribune reader picked up on her complaints...saying he cannot believe how clueless people are when they shop blocking aisles as they talk on their cell phones acting like they are the only people in the store.

And he added, “Don’t get me started on people talking on their cell phones when they are at the register checking out, disrespecting the cashier and the patrons behind them.”

Donna Fry wrapped up her commentary by asking, “Wouldn’t it be nice if in this new year people would be lot more civil and aware of others? And wouldn’t it help a lot if fewer people ignored the laws and actually showed respect for one another and displayed good manners?”

It’s called The Golden Rule about treating others as you would want them to treat you.  And it’s been around as long as people have been around.
