How to Deal with Bad San Diego Traffic

When you live in a big city like San Diego or another big city in California, you get used to dealing with heavy traffic. Or maybe you don’t get used to it but you find ways to deal with it.

What happened Wednesday afternoon when there were huge traffic problems and thousands of people experienced long delays. It was worse than usual and it was an unusual incident that caused it.

A tragic accident involving a pedestrian who for some reason was walking on the 15 freeway near Snapdragon Stadium when the person was struck and died. While the sad circumstances are still being investigated, the incident led to big backups not only the 15, but other freeways too and even on some side streets.

Of course drive-home traffic is often bad anyway, but when you toss in the rain and fans heading to Snapdragon for a big U.S. women’s soccer match, it gets worse.

When it comes to traffic, there are two kinds of drivers. Those who look for alternate routes and zig zag on side streets so they are at least moving even if it doesn’t save time. And then there are those who are okay to stay in the traffic, sit back, and use the time to unwind.

But the pandemic taught a lot of us how to shift our time and try not to be on the freeways as much during drive times. Whatever you do, we do learn, just as in life, why patience is indeed a virtue.
