When you live in San Diego, you get to chuckle a bit when you hear references as we did yesterday that Labor Day marks the traditional end of summer.
That’s because in San Diego, our summer doesn’t end on the day after Labor Day.
While most kids may be back to school by now. that doesn’t mean the summer weather starts to go away as it does in most other parts of the country.
In fact some of our warmest weather happens in September and even October.
The news in San Diego on this day after Labor Day isn’t about getting ready for Fall but getting ready for a heat wave with the forecast for temperatures to be in the 80s near the coast and the low 100’s in the inland valleys.
And that means a lot of people still heading to San Diego’s beaches in these days after Labor Day while much of the rest of the country heading toward chilly Falls and freezing Winters.
In other words, we still have plenty of summer left. After all the weather year round in San Diego is described as America’s finest weather.
Oh sure we will have the usual cooler weather and certainly some rainy weather at times, as we do every year.
But when it comes to having to say goodbye to summer after the Labor Day holiday, not happening here.
