Seeking Relief from the Heat Wave in San Diego

Wherever you went in the San Diego area this weekend, virtually everyone was talking about it and everyone was feeling it.

With temperature readings Sunday rising to 100 to 110 degrees spread across from just a few miles from the coast to the inland valleys, the downtown temperature hitting 94 at the airport and 90 near the beaches, you couldn’t help but feel it.

The fifth straight day of 100-plus temperatures and more humidity too.

The air in the East County was described as “thick and heavy.”

As the San Diego Union Tribune reported, “Residents trudged into El Cajon’s air-conditioned library where almost every table was taken. A few people wandered the stacks in what appeared to be a daze, their skin flushed.”

And all the people in San Diego who don’t have air conditioning because they usually don’t need it, wish they had it.

Some went to movie theaters; others went to big box stores to spend time in air conditioned spaces.

At many schools, kids have been kept indoors and many outdoor activities were cancelled.

With the forecasters saying more normal weather is coming by mid-week, it can’t come soon enough.
