It’s been a rough week when it comes to bad news. And we’re only halfway through the week.
First it was Hurricane Helene ravaging through Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas and Tennessee with the death toll still rising and the number of people unaccounted for still high. If you’re a friend or family member of anyone in those states, you’ve probably been texting or talking.
And then we woke up to the news Tuesday morning that Iran was firing a couple of hundred missiles into Israel with the sounds of air raid sirens heard om the news. And when you heard the news and you wondered if this was the big war in the Middle East that has been feared for months.
And then there was the news about a huge walkout by thousands of dockworkers back on the East and Gulf coasts that could cripple the supply chain and bring worries that what happened during the pandemic could happen again, just as inflation and interest rates are going down and just as the holidays are nearing.
And then of course the election is now just over a month away and as it draws closer, there are worrisome reports of another challenge to the results and chatter about the possibility of some violence after the election.
It all can make you feel like things are out of control. But it also can prompt you to be grateful and thankful each day for the situations and people in your life. And like a popular song suggests; that sometimes storms can be blessings in disguise.
