What a Nurse With Long COVID Says 5 Years After Start of Pandemic

Five years after the start of the COVID pandemic, doctors and scientists are still discovering new things about it and how best to prevent serious cases.

The San Diego Union Tribune story this week about an El Cajon nurse who still suffers from what they call “long CVOID” is a prime example of why.

This 40 year old nurse was among the many health care professions in 2020 who treated patients with COVID as hospital beds were crammed with people, many of whom had serious cases, some on ventilators and some who died.

The daily news reports and the stories that first year of the pandemic…we all remember.

Those were some nervous and scary times. It was before the vaccine was approved and began to be administered.  That was early 2021 and things have fortunately changed since those days.

But the nurse in El Cajon, who still suffers some of the effects of long COVID,  told the Union Tribune, she also has had to deal with some friends and family members who she says don’t believe that COVID was real and who think that vaccines are a scam and don’t believe that long COVID is a real thing.

Having risked her own life to help COVID patients when they were streaming into her hospital, it has to be difficult to deal with things like that while she continues to deal with a very long case of long COVID.
