What Is Happening That Could Bring Us Together

Something’s happening in San Diego, that may be happening at just the right time.

With all the stress over political divisions, battles over tariffs and taxes, funding cuts and legal battles, immigration and borders, inflation and the cost of living, an even the price of eggs with Easter just days away, there is something going on in San Diego that at the least takes our minds off troubles and gives us something to cheer about.

It is the San Diego Padres who are playing baseball maybe as well as a Padre team has ever played and have a lot of San Diegans, talking about them and watching them and giving them something to rally around that everyone can agree on…an amazingly good and winning baseball team.

As the Union Tribune baseball writer Kevin Acee put it this week, “This is not just winning a lot. This is not normal.” It is great baseball for sure.

And while sports talk show hosts talk about it, and baseball writers write about it, there is a feeling, not necessarily unwarranted, that this could be the year that the Padres bring a World Series Championship to San Diego.

And what the Padres are doing for those who are so stressed out over so much that is going on in the world and at a time when it’s hard to have a conversation about all the news going on, maybe they will be what actually might be able to  bring us all together and cheer together.
