What People Who Don’t Live Here Think of San Diego

During this week as we take a close look at what makes the city of San Diego what it is, how our city is viewed by those who don’t live here, is pretty impressive. Both officially and unofficially.

As of two years ago, after rising for several years, San Diego had become the Number 2 spot in the annual Readers Choice Awards for best large cities in the U.S.

And a scan of social media reveals the envy of Americans who don’t live here but would like to is enormous.

As a Reddit thread described San Diego, “t's actually the quintessential "California" city, even more so than LA. A relaxed pace of life with incredible weather.”

Our city does take some hits at times among those who don’t live here about the cost of living, but as a place to visit it still ranks at or near the top in surveys.

And with San Diego being a border city with a strong Mexican history and culture, it also draws visitors from around the world.

Our nickname may be America’s Finest City, but the city’s appeal goes far beyond the U.S.
