What the Iran War Means for Military Families

You’ve heard the reports on the news every day in recent days.

Warships and troops from San Diego deployed to the Middle East to help in the war against Iran.

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, with thousands of sailors along with dozens of fighter jets and their pilots on board already having carried out strikes in Iran.

The USS Boxer amphibious assault ship and more than 2,000 U.S Marines from Camp Pendleton just recently deployed to the area as they prepare for a possible combat mission on land.

And now the latest news about the 1,000 or so soldiers from the U.S Army’s 82nd Airborne Division on their way to the area. They’re not from San Diego, but their families are just as concerned about their loved ones as all the families of all the sailors and Marines from here are.

While we all watch and hear and sometimes debate as the news reports come in about what’s happening in the Middle East, for the thousands of families of American men and women in the battle, it can be a time of nervous worries.

For the families of the 13 U.S troops who have died and the 200 who have been injured in the conflict so far, it is worse and it is painful.

We need to remember all the military families who live every day as their loved ones are in harms way to serve their country and to protect the rest of us.
