You may have heard the recent news reports about a new variant of COVID-19.
Six years ago, in March was when the COVID pandemic and the stay-at-home orders became official. Seems like a long time ago now.
Even we do all remember what it was like…. with schools closed, stores and restaurants closed, the masks and the six feet social distancing guidelines.
So, the last thing we want to hear about is a new COVID variant.
A new CDC report says BA 3.2, as the variant is called, has been detected in 25 states and about two dozen other countries.
The report says public health officials are watching it closely because the new variant has a large number of “mutations which may help it partially evade immunity from prior infection or vaccinations”.
You may have even gotten a reminder in recent days from your pharmacy or doctor’s office about it being time for a COVID vaccine booster.
And we do know that while getting a vaccine shot doesn’t guarantee that you won’t get the virus, we do know that it does prevent serious cases and hospitalizations.
While the scientists say there is no reason to panic about this new strain, they also will tell you that when it comes to getting a jab, forewarned is forearmed.
