A Question for Parents About Electric Motorcycles and Bikes

The case of a mother in Orange County who is facing criminal charges in connection with her 14-year-old son’s actions in illegally riding an e-motorcycle and hitting and killing an 81-year-old man…has generated a lot of reaction and a lot of talk on the talk shows.

How much should a parent should be held criminally responsible for their children’s criminal actions.

This case is not the first time a parent has been charged with a crime after their teenage child did something terribly wrong that ended a life.

In the Orange County case, the D-A said the mother had “essentially handed her 14-year-old a deadly weapon” and let him illegally ride an e-motorcycle.

The defense attorney for the mother is quoted as saying, “She is anguished over a terrible accident and sends her deepest condolences and sorrow over this tragedy.”

The Orange County D-A has filed charges against three other parents since January for allowing their children to illegally ride e-motorcycles, which are more dangerous than e-bikes.

But e-bikes have led to accidents as well.

And most parents would probably agree with local cities that are passing laws to restrict the use of these e-motorcycles and e-bikes.
