The Battle Over City of San Diego's Budget Nears an End

We all know how difficult balancing our household budget can be. Especially these days with the cost of living and inflation.

But when it comes to the massive size of a city budget and a huge deficit, like the city of San Diego faces, it is one giant task.

And when it’s a city, it means hearing from hundreds if not thousands of city residents, all of whom have different ideas about what should be saved and what should be cut.

Some want rec centers and libraries saved, and most everybody wanted paid parking in Balboa Park eliminated. And the city council preserved them in the budget they passed.

But it all can become a very contentious and emotional fight. And that’s exactly what we have seen happening over the last several weeks when it comes to the city budget.

And the fights are not over. The mayor can veto parts of the city council approved budget and the council can override the mayor with enough votes.

So, we will all see what happens. Some will be happy while others will not.

Take a deep breath.
