San Diego and Tijuana have something in common besides being nestled against each other along the international border.
The cross-border economy has always been something that brought and has kept the two cities together.
Tourism also is shared by the cities on each side of the border.
A lot of people south of the border cross the border every day to work or shop.
And a lot of people north of the border cross the border to do everything from going there less expensive medical care and prescriptions to do boating or fishing or just recreating.
But now, the sister cities are sharing an experience that doesn’t happen very often at all.
The Sweetwater Valley little league team in San Diego’s South County and the Tijuana Municipal little league team are both playing in the Little League World Series in the far-off city of Williamsport Pennsylvania.
And as the Union Tribune reported, when Sweetwater Valley paraded around the field during opening ceremonies Wednesday…players on the Tijuana Municipal team showed up in full force for their neighbors — and vice versa.
And it sure would be fun to see Sweetwater Valley and Tijuana Municipal to be the two teams who play for the Little League World Series title.
