SpaceX, the company owned by Elon Musk, successfully launched a Falcon 9 rocket on Sunday delivering supplies to the international space center.
There were a couple of notable events that were part of the launch.
First, it was the first launch by a private company from the the Florida in Florida referred to as Cape Canaveral or the Kennedy Space Center.
Second, the effort booster rocket used by SpaceX successfully returned to earth, landing in a spectacular fashion. The ability to reuse the booster rocket saves millions of dollars in future launches.
In the past, the company has used a launch facility at Vandenberg Air Force base in northern California and did successfully recover the booster rocket on a raft in the Pacific Ocean.
