Baby born in San Diego With Birth Defects From Zika

San Diego county is reporting the first case of a woman giving birth to a baby born with birth defects from the Zika Virus.

The woman became infected with the virus while traveling to a country where the virus is common.

The infant has microcephaly, which is a condition in which a baby's head and brain are smaller than normal.

Health officials say pregnant women, or women or couples who are considering getting pregnant should avoid going to countries where the virus is prevalent.

87 people in the county have come back from travel with the virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes.

It can also be spread thru unprotected sex.
