We don't see much of it here but if you're traveling outside of the state, you want to know about Lyme disease, which is spread by ticks.
Dr. Stephen Leibham with U-S Healthworks in San Diego tells KOGO News the people from San Diego who come down with Lyme disease probably got it somewhere else where deer ticks are present.
Within three days to 30 days of being bitten by a tick, symptoms may appear, including severe headaches and neck stiffness and a rash. An expanding red area might appear that sometimes clears in the center forming a bulls eye pattern. Other symptoms include arthritis and facial palsy, where one or both sides of the face droop.
