Free Heart Screenings For Kids and Student Athletes

Sudden cardiac arrest or SCA is the leading cause of death for people under 25 and the number one killer of student athletes.

On Sunday, November 12th,  the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation is holding free heart screenings for kids.

Eric was 15 when he died of sudden cadiac arrest.

The foundation says kids don't get heart screenings during regular well child exams or sports physicals, and they find one to two percent of kids at risk at every screening.

They have screened more than 25 thousand teenagers, finding nearly 1 in 300 at risk for an abnormallity.

The life saving event is from 9 to 3 Sunday at UCSD's Warren Lecture Hall.
