Extra Security at Bonita Vista High School Monday

Police and school district officials say two threats to shoot students at Bonita Vista High School that spread on social media Sunday were described as unsubstantiated.

But extra law enforcement were placed on campus as a precauition.

The first threat was of a screenshot of an Instagram comment that read, "Shooting up on the campus Monday. I like some of you. Try to skip school if you value your life." Another threat coming out around 9:30 p.m. with a similar message.

The Sweetwater Union High School District sent 10News this statement:

Today Bonita Vista High School was made aware of a threat via social media. After working closely with Chula Vista Police they are able to confirm that this threat is unsubstantiated and school will continue as normal on Monday. We will have additional law enforcement on campus as a precaution. The safety and security of our students is a top priority and we thank you for your continued support.
