7th Death from COVID-19 Reported in San Diego County

San Diego County health officials on Saturday announced that a 7th county resident had died from COVID-19.

At an afternoon news conference, Dr. Nick Yphantides said a man in his 80's has become the 7th person to die from the coronavirus in San Diego County. He pointed out that with the death of a 25-year-old San Diego County man they announced on Friday it shows that the virus can affect anyone of any age, young and old.

The number of confirmed cases of coronaviruses reported in the county as of 5 p.m. Saturday was 488, up from 417 the day before.. County health officials say they expect the number of continue to rise but say the rate can be slowed if residents comply with the stay at home orders to limit travel to only that which is necessary and that everyone practice social distancing and wash their hands frequently. Medical experts say the way most people contract the virus us by touching their hand to their face.

County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher says the county's public health orders have now been extended indefinitely. He says we are still in the early stages of the spread of the virus and that no one knows how long it will last.
